Finding Your Decor Style

If there is anything that I have learned over the years with decorating it is best to find pieces and colors that spark JOY in your heart. Then make it a theme!! Once you get a color pallet, you can really bring a room together, no what matter what the room is. 

Let's say I just bought this beautiful Velvet Green Accent Chair available at Ahava Home Design of Course..

My eyes would really start wondering on what would look good next.

The gold on the chair gives me a hint of wanting it with browns, blacks, or white.

The color of the green however makes a huge difference with darker or lighter tones. This chair above definitely has a darker color. So the black accents or darker browns will look great with that, but not with our chair. It calls for a cooler tone and maybe even making the chair the main color piece in the room. 

Something like this! Lots of light whites, and beiges, light wood, soft pinks! Then touches of other green colors to accent it. Notice the green Pillow, our chair would look great in that room! Credit: Wayfair

After finding the tone you can also start looking for the textures, and patterns that will add dimension to your space. This is where your amazing baskets, great rugs, and can't live without plants come in. These parts are what will make the boho look be boho, or a sea escape cabin feel like at sea. Then it all the sudden becomes a room!
